Working as the Leading hand under the supervision of the
Architect and Builder, I am working with the team to renovate
this old Railway Tavern into a home for a typical modern
family. Found in a state of disrepair, we have given each room
a refresh, restored the existing window sashes, replaced a
dangerous staircase, penetrated a few new openings as well
as many other unexpected necessary modifications. Being on
site daily has shown that no job is every easy in restoration
work. Attention to detail and forward planning is crucial.
Carrying out tasks with the builder and subcontractors has
proven to be a valuable experience, seeing how the work,
helping where applicable and being able to ask questions
has taught me a lot about the process of building. Consistent
and clear communication with the Architect and Client has
allowed me to express my design ideas as well as work in
delivering an architect's concept.
